Dude&Dudette® is a brand created in Florence in 2008. The brandname is inspired by the American word "dude" that means "friend, same age"; however, a person who shares your style and your interests. From "dude" to the neologism "dudette" it’s a short step, and identifies the world of our "dude" declined to women. Dude & Dudette are Gianluca & Maria – an advertising creative and his girlfriend, a fashion designer, who decided to create a clothing collection that could be easily inserted in their wardrobe. Moreover, Dude&Dudette® is what two folks 20/30 years old want to have in their wardrobe. Dude is a nerd, a bit dandy. It’s not that easy to translate it into Italian, but our two guys made up their minds. They wear sweatshirts, t-shirts and comfortable apparel that mix together with others recalling to a more “adult” kind of elegance. As to say, tailormade jackets and shirts lightened by heavy washes that give them a worn appearance. It is not the typical college style: they are rather like the apparel that Oxford students browse in Carnaby Street or that Yale students seek in the markets in the Boston docks area. The whole collection has its roots in the 80's: clean lines, almost minimal enlightened by "pied de poule" and Prince of Wales patterns typical of those years. On the t-shirts appear the vintage icons of ice-cream and candies of past century and the old advertising payoffs of chocolate brands. The volumes are slim-fit. The nerd who wears dandy-style looks for a slim fitting apparel: he wants to look elegant without giving the impression that he stole the jacket to his dad. The collection is a total look entirely made in Italy, where sweatshirts, sweaters, polos and t-shirts have the biggest part. Attention to details and finishes is the real point of strength, but at the same time items keep an easy to wear appearance through washes in series, vintage prints and row edge. The colors are the ones in Stars & Bars and Union Jack: blue, white and red declined in all their nuances from light blue to pink. The main fabric in Spring Summer ’09 collection is cotton in all its variations: simple and bonded jersey, twill, gabardine and piquet. Dude&Dudette® finally smile: they found their style with the same enthusiasm with, as children, they ran in the candy shop to buy sweets and chocolate.
